Hologram Ceiling

Every now and then you stumble across some real gems on tumblr and not too long ago I happened upon the art blog hologramceiling only to be instantly intrigued. The blog features some very sort of dark but playful art and some really cool stop-motion videos. Take a look at this latest video and then check out the interview we had with artist down below!

Q: There’s not really much information about you on your tumblr. Could you give us your name and a little about yourself?

A: My name is Dylan Jones and I live in the Pacific Northwest– I went to school for a bit at PNCA.

Q: How do you want people to feel when they view your work? What kind of reaction are you hoping for?

A: I hope people feel that they can feel whatever they like when looking at my work, it’s partially designed to be ambiguous. Sometimes I think if I work on something with a particular feeling how it would translate to another person but it’s more interesting to me to hear what other people think (when I get the opportunity). Inspiration might be the best I could hope for I don’t know really.

Q: What inspires you?

A: Being alive, other people’s behavior

Q: In your own words how would you describe your art style?

A: obscure/sad/funny/anxious/dumb/cruel

Q: Your videos are so interesting! You can’t predict where they’re heading! How do you come up with the plots for them?

A: I sketch a few minor ideas out in my mind or a piece of paper and once I finish one ‘scene’ I use that to form a skeleton of what the animation may be about. It’s generally stream-of-conscious but slightly tedious.

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island what 3 things would you want to have?

A: rubberbands/waterproof matches/YOUTUBE

Q: What would you do if you suddenly had one million dollars?

A: Hopefully not work so much (at a job)
